Helen Hanson

With more than 35 years’ experience as a registered nurse, including significant experience in mental health nursing, Helen Hanson is a skilled mental health educator and knowledgeable speaker on a range of contemporary issues.

Yet, with creativity to burn, she juggled her clinical nursing career with acting, scriptwriting, directing and even opera singing – resulting in a unique synthesis of clinical knowledge and an actor’s stage presence and performance.

For Helen, there is a there is a strong connection between her chosen careers, as storytelling is a huge part of the nursing tradition. She explains that storytelling has been used for thousands of years to heal communities and to heal the spirit.

As an experienced adult educator, Helen has extensive training experience, specialising in change management and workplace mental health.

She is also a certified practitioner in the Intuitive Intelligence method and also works as a mindfulness teacher and leadership coach. In 2020 she completed Therapeutic Crisis Intervention training with Perth Children’s Hospital, which directly informs all of her work in Mental Health and interpersonal skills.

Helen’s talents as a speaker and storyteller allow her to deliver insightful, accessible mental health and communications content through stories that resonate long after the event.
